About me

I am a professionally qualified Acupuncturist, who graduated from the International College Of Oriental Medicine in 1998, after undertaking the four year full time course. During which time I studied TCM style Acupuncture and also a refined style of Acupuncture known in the west as Stems and branches. I specialised early on in Chinese pulse diagnosis, this is the form of diagnosis I lean towards in clinic. I set up The Bournemouth Clinic For Osteopathy and Acupuncture (along with my brother Steve who is an osteopath) in 1998 and I have been practising there ever since. It is a family run business in a relaxed atmosphere. After graduating I went straight into full acupuncture working at the above clinic and also the Wessex Healthy Living Trust (1998-2004), which is a busy multidisciplinary clinic, in 2000 i started administering acupuncture at the poole drug action team for addictions, cocaine, heroin, amphetamine, Valium and alcohol. I have also practised acupuncture at Lilliput Health, Poole Bay osteopaths and I am currently practicing at the Wimborne Clinic which I started in 2009.
In 2015 I returned to the International College Of Oriental Medicine as a post graduate Lecturer and I am currently lecturing Acupuncture postgraduates in Acu-silk.

Although I studied at College, my own Acupuncture training had the flavour of a linage, I had the good fortune to be taught by three masters of Acupuncture, Dr JD Van Buren, Peter Van Kervel, and Joan Duveem.

Dr JD Van Buren is the man widely considered to have brought Classical Chinese Medicine from its native China to Europe where it is currently enjoyed something of a renaissance. I was lucky enough to have spent many hours clinical observation with him.

Peter Van Kervel I consider my main teacher, he is an international teacher and author of numerous Classical acupuncture books. I am deeply indebted to him for the time and effort he has invested in me and I will always be eternally grateful to him.

Joan Duveen is a Master of Classical Acupuncture who along with Peter Van Kervel taught me Stems and Branches Acupuncture. He has also taught me many continued professional development study over the 19 years i have been practicing.
